Apple iPhone 4 Mania in the Search Engines

June 7, 2010

I don’t typically write about news-related events, but this caught my eye: 13 of the current top 20 Google hot searches are related to the Apple iPhone 4 launch. It’s even 14 if counting the search for Engadget (assuming people are currently looking for their iPhone 4 release coverage).

Google US June 7, 2010, 22:30 (GMT) Hot Searches:

  1. jony ive
  2. gyroscope
  3. iphone 4 release date
  4. souleye
  5. verizon iphone
  6. new iphone
  7. helen thomas
  8. retinal display
  9. iphone 4g announcement
  10. wwdc 2010 live stream
  11. apple announcement
  12. iphone 4.0
  13. new iphone june 2010
  14. mlb draft 2010
  15. ios
  16. rush limbaugh wedding
  17. apple conference 2010
  18. honolulu star advertiser
  19. engadget
  20. ios 4

The biggest winner for the surge in these search terms seem to be Wikipedia which ranks in top for Jony Ive, Gyroscope and Retinal Display, followed by news sources covering the event and of course above all – Apple.
